John Collins – CEO/CFO
John has decades of extensive experience in the Fire Safety Industry establishing a class leading brand in JD Collins Fire Protection. John’s passion and leadership skills has been instrumental in building a strong foundation for the continued future success of JD Collins Fire Protection. John continues to be involved in future planning and continued growth/success of the company. John’s leadership and wide knowledge will be used to continue to shape the overall direction of JD Collins Fire Protection to provide class leading service to our client base.
Dan Madden – President
Dan has been in the Fire Life Safety Industry for 17 years with JD Collins Fire Protection gaining valuable experience from a “grounds up” approach. This foundational experience working through all aspects of our business has allowed him to be named President in 2021. He had a unique opportunity to work under the current Senior Leadership of JD Collins for his entire tenure which allowed him to absorb the good values of each of the leaders and prepare him for this role. Dan along with John, and the rest of the team share the same passion of trying to improve the industry while exceeding our customers’ expectations. Dan has developed a strong inspection division, emergency service expectations, internal policies, and client management to ensure our clients are meeting Ontario Fire Code regulations. Dan’s focus is to continue to support development of the business, office, and fleet from an operational perspective to ensure long term success of JD Collins and our clients Fire Protection needs. Dan supported the development and implementation of a new innovative wireless work flow system. This included moving the fleet to a wireless work order & schedule system which communicates in real time with the office team, and supports work order to invoicing and automated emailing to our clients, the system is now the hub of our fleet operations and office operations. This innovative work flow is an excellent example of our commitment to provide class leading services to our client base.
Dave Bested – Executive Vice President
Dave has been with JD Collins for 19 years, and had a successful career in Property Management for 22 years prior to joining JD Collins Fire Protection. Dave’s technical experience in both Fire Protection and Building Maintenance has allowed him to connect with our customers from a technical standpoint and really understand their needs. His greatest strengths are people management, business development, and communication which has left a lasting impact in the growth of JD Collins Fire Protection. What truly sets Dave apart is his dedication to client satisfaction. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the project is handled with care and precision. His proactive approach and commitment to delivering high-quality results reflect the core values of JD Collins Fire Protection.
Robert Burns – Fire Alarm Division Manager
Robert is our Fire Alarm Division Manager, he is a graduate of both Seneca College Fire Protection Engineering, and Mohawk College 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician Tradeschool, and has spent the last five years as a part time CFAE Fire Alarm shop instructor. With 23 years in the industry, Robert has extensive experience in inspection, installation, troubleshooting, programming, and customer service. Robert’s experience will serve to enhance our team’s dynamic and provide value to the business, customers, and most importantly our Team. Robert is not only an expert in fire protection systems but is also an excellent communicator. He takes the time to explain complex fire safety concepts in a straightforward and accessible manner, ensuring that clients are fully informed and comfortable with the proposed solutions. Robert’s focus moving forward is to continue to develop our Fire Alarm Division, Fire Alarm System upgrades, and ensure we are meeting all regulatory requirements.
Jeremy Beers – Sprinkler Division Manager
Jeremy has been with JD Collins for 18 years and is a sprinkler fitter by trade. Jeremy was named Sprinkler Division Manager in 2024 as his deep expertise and professional approach set him apart as a leader within the division. Jeremy’s greatest attributes at JD Collins has been his strong understanding of codes, ability to coach the fleet from a technical standpoint, and ability to manage the growth from an operational standpoint. Jeremy’s communication skills are exemplary. He explains complex concepts in a clear, understandable manner, making it easy for clients to grasp the importance and functionality of fire protection measures. His proactive problem-solving skills and attention to detail ensure that all potential issues are addressed before they become problems. What stands out most about Jeremy is his dedication to his Team, and our customers. He consistently demonstrates a commitment to providing tailored solutions that meet specific needs and exceed expectations. His professionalism, combined with a genuine care for the safety and well-being of our Team, creates a highly positive and reassuring experience. Jeremy’s main focus moving forward is to continue to develop our apprenticeship program, and assist our clients with capital budgets.
Justin Liscombe – Electrical Division Manager
Justin Liscombe is our Master Electrician, a certified programmer of Mircom fire alarm systems under JD Collins, and a CFAA licensed technician. Justin has been with JD Collins for 17 years, licensed CFAA technician for 16 years, and licensed electrician for 15 years. Justin is largely responsible for the success of our fire alarm installation projects, emergency lighting test/inspect & repair program, and electrical division. He is a code specialist in electrical, fire alarm, and emergency lighting. Justin is our lead for fire alarm panel replacements and the development of the rest of the electrical team. He manages the close out of our ESA permits when required to ensure our account is always in good standing. Justin also oversees all tenant related fire alarm projects, and verification testing.
Mark Muia – Sprinkler Division Project Manager
Mark has been with JD Collins Fire Protection for 13 years, and in the industry for 23. Mark is well versed in inspections, codes, installation, trouble shooting and service. Mark is also CFAA licensed and is one of our leaders in the fleet. Mark was named our Sprinkler Division Project Manager in 2024, and is responsible for quoting, and overseeing all installation and Capital projects. His exceptional skills, thoroughness, and dedication make him a valuable asset to any fire protection project or team. Mark possesses a comprehensive understanding of fire protection systems and regulations. He brings a wealth of knowledge to every project, ensuring that all aspects are meticulously planned and executed. His ability to stay current with the latest industry standards and technological advancements is truly impressive.
